As many of you know, I have been actively blogging for over 10 years now. In 2005, I started a website called Prepared Catholic. It was basically a site that housed many of the games and resources that I found helpful in my own ministry when I worked in the parish. In 2011, I started the Catholic Youth Ministry Hub, which was virtually the same thing except that I sort of had a following and so decided I needed to take things a bit more seriously. In fact, if you Googled “Catholic Youth Ministry Resources,” I came up as the second website (just after Lifeteen).
In 2013, something changed for me. I don’t really know how to explain it except to say that I knew I needed to do something different. I started a journey that for the last three years has taught me over and over again that the Lord has something so much greater than anything I could’ve imagined myself (see Isaiah 55:9). As you are probably aware, this website has communicated much of that journey. And like before, I decided to post my thoughts and share online through “a website” so that those who desired to come along with me might be able to do so.
More recently within the last three months, I was able to publish a book with my friend and mentor Jim Beckman, and just last week closed enrollment to a course through which I get the opportunity to walk with 35 individuals who are desiring to travel a similar path as me. This continues to be a process of personal growth that is difficult to articulate at times, but I pray that those who have been with me since 2005 have seen the transformation and have been inspired to continually seek ways to deepen their own discipleship and strengthen the youth ministry efforts in their parishes.
Thank you for journeying with me. I look forward to continuing to learn and grow together in 2017!
